Learn about the EpiTect Methyl qPCR Arrays Update

Dear Scientist:

We are pleased to announce that we have updated the EpiTect Methyl qPCR System line of products, QIAGEN's DNA methylation profiling system. The updated line of products is now branded under the EpiTect Methyl II PCR Array System product name.

The new DNA methylation profiling system includes features that enhance data reliability and will continue to have all of the advantages that researchers have come to depend upon: sensitive profiling of DNA methylation using PCR Arrays and individual DNA methylation assays, and convenient ease-of-use without any bisulfite conversion of DNA.

As a result of the EpiTect Methyl II PCR Array System upgrade, several changes have occurred:

1. The 5x Digestion Buffer in the DNA restriction kit has been spiked with two plasmids, which serve as controls for monitoring the efficiency of restriction enzymes A and B
2. Two new control assays have been added to each DNA methylation array to monitor digestion efficiency by restriction enzymes
3. Biological content in DNA methylation arrays have been updated to accommodate the inclusion of the two control assays.
4. Some assays in our databases have been changed to reflect updates to the human genome database.
5. New data analysis modules have been established to incorporate more stringent quality control criteria for analyzing EpiTect Methyl II PCR Arrays

The workflow of the system has not changed. DNA profiling of several targets simultaneously using this system can still be accomplished within a day without bisulfite conversion of DNA, but now with increased reliability and reproducibility, through the inclusion of the 2 control plasmids along with their respective assays. The data analysis modules have been updated to use these controls to generate a "Pass" or "Fail" call for the quality of template used for real-time PCR.

We will continue to support the existing EpiTect Methyl qPCR products through November 1, 2012, but we encourage researchers to move new DNA methylation profiling projects to the new EpiTect Methyl II PCR product family. For researchers who are in the middle of important research products, we will continue to support you as you complete your study.
