How It Works

SABiosciences' RT² qPCR-Grade™ RNA Isolation Kit is optimized for real-time RT-PCR based gene expression analysis. It is designed to extract up to 100 µg of total RNA that is free of genomic DNA and other impurities. The protocol works on cultured cells directly, and on animal tissues in combination with a phenol/chloroform-based extraction method.

A lysis buffer, with chaotropic components, stabilizes and optimizes retention of the RNA on a special silica membrane spin column technology. A DNase treatment on the column digests any genomic DNA contamination. Washing the column removes degraded genomic DNA, salts, metabolites, and other macromolecular cellular components. Low ionic strength conditions then elute from the column pure RNA ready for subsequent cDNA template synthesis with the RT² First Strand Kit (C-03).

The RT² qPCR-Grade™ RNA Isolation Kit provides an easy and efficient approach to acquire total RNA of a greater purity and higher yield. The protocol takes only 30 minutes of hands-on time, and the kit includes sufficient materials to purify 12 RNA samples. RNA purified by this kit has been thoroughly tested on and optimized for our RT² Profiler™ PCR Arrays, RT² qPCR Primer Assays and RT² qPCR Master Mixes.
